CARMEL PRESERVE

The Story
“I don’t want to spend another winter in New York.” With those words, the search for a seasonal sanctuary began. Already familiar with the pristine trails of The Preserve, the family chose a twenty-year-old home situated on a knoll overlooking a majestic oak grove. Perfectly positioned to capture the sun from every room, the structure was the ideal candidate for a warm, West Coast revival.

The Transformation
The goal was to create an approachable country home—a comfortable retreat from the East Coast. We introduced a curated palette of new wall colors, custom draperies, and tactile furnishings to bring a sense of ease to the space. The interiors were reimagined as a gallery-like backdrop for an expanding art collection, while the floor plan was organized into distinct wings to provide privacy and comfort for both the father and the couple.

The Result
A collaborative triumph between the clients, the landscape, and the interior vision. This sun-drenched sanctuary offers a perfect, un-fussy balance between family life and fine art—providing the ultimate escape where the outdoors and indoors feel like one.
