Burlingame PENTHOUSE
The Story
Acquired as a secondary residence to stay close to family, this penthouse offered a premier location but a dated, "Old World" Mediterranean aesthetic. The challenge was clear: how to honor the building's established character while marrying it with a clean, contemporary soul. What began as a kitchen refresh quickly evolved into a full-scale remodel.
The Transformation
We stripped away heavy wainscoting and ornate stone to reveal a cleaner canvas. In the kitchen, rift oak cabinetry and Calacatta Oro countertops were introduced to bring warmth and precision to the space. The primary bath was completely reimagined for better utility, replacing a non-functional tub with a spacious curbless shower and streamlined storage.
The Result
A sophisticated retreat designed for aging in place. The refined interiors now serve as a quiet, luminous backdrop, allowing the couple’s expansive art collection and Native American baskets to take center stage. By streamlining the architecture, we created a space that isn't just a home, but a curated gallery for a life well-lived.
